At LPL, nurturing is in our nature. With both our clients and our staff, we have a passion for creating the very best in culture and extending that to our client service.
Nurturing careers that are rooted in growth is a key part of LPL’s culture and mission. This is brilliantly reflected in one of our trainees, Emily.
From work placement to now completing her training contract with us, Emily’s journey is a great demonstration of how at LPL we work to create the very best in learning for all of the team.
A Trainee Solicitor Journey Rooted in Conveyancing
Emily’s route into law was shaped by early curiosity, consistent effort, and real-world experience in conveyancing. Her progression shows how hands-on learning, responsibility, and the right culture can build both capability and confidence over time.
Q: What drew you to law?
It comes down to the environment. It is a very positive place to work which is vital if you want to do better and stay motivated. Seeing everyone around you being successful is a great motivator to push yourself further.
Why Emily Chose LPL for Her Trainee Solicitor Career
Q: What made you choose LPL?
During that time at college, I had the chance to do a one‑day work experience placement at LPL. It was only a single day, but it was enough for me to walk away thinking, I want to work here. I decided to apply, took a chance… and now, here I am three years later.
From the very beginning, the thing that stood out the most was how friendly everyone was. I immediately felt comfortable. No matter how senior someone is, I’ve never felt nervous to approach anyone for help. That openness makes such a difference when you’re starting out in a legal career; you feel supported rather than intimidated.
Building Confidence as a Trainee Solicitor
Q: What would you say has been the biggest thing that has helped you to grow in your role?
Having my own caseload has been a huge responsibility, but also a major turning point in my development. It’s helped me build confidence in areas like time management, communicating clearly with clients, and assessing risk. Those are skills you can only truly strengthen by doing the work day‑to‑day.
Q: What else do you enjoy in your role?
Alongside my trainee solicitor role, I also support LPL’s social media. If you’d told me a few years ago that I’d be confidently putting myself out there online, I wouldn’t have believed you. Taking on that responsibility has pushed me out of my comfort zone and taught me new skills that you wouldn’t typically expect in this industry. It’s been surprisingly rewarding and has helped me grow personally as well as professionally.
Culture, Confidence, and Career Development
Q: How would you say the culture at LPL has helped you to develop?
When I look back at who I was before joining LPL, I can see how much I’ve changed, in the best way. I’m more confident, more outgoing and far more willing to challenge myself. I’ve also made some amazing friends here, people I hope to stay close to for a long time. The culture has played a huge part in that: it’s uplifting, supportive and gives you the space to become the best version of yourself.
A Trainee Solicitor Career Built on Support, Growth and Shared Success
Emily’s journey showcases what makes being an LPL Trainee Solicitor distinct within the conveyancing sector. This is not a place where people simply manage caseloads, you are encouraged to look at your own potential, you get genuine support and modern systems that create space for people to excel. With a people‑first culture, proactive communication and a commitment to sustainable career development, LPL ensures that both clients and colleagues benefit from a truly supportive experience.
Her story highlights how, at LPL, success is shared, development is continual and legal careers do more than progress – they thrive.
